Should I Delete Windows Setup Files

We acknowledge your business organisation with deleting the installation files, in lodge to have some disk memory.

Aye, you can delete those files.

How to delete those files without harming the Operating system.

Note : When you upgrade your current version of Windows to a newer version, the upgrade process will create backups of important directories from your previous version of Windows. These directories include your user profiles, Windows folder, Programme Files directory, and other important locations. These backups are then stored in two folders chosen Windows.old and $Windows.~BT, which can be used after the upgrade to recover any data that may not take been properly migrated over to the new version of Windows. These two folders, though, can use up a significant amount of hard bulldoze space on your computer. Therefore, if yous are sure you no longer need whatever of the files in those folders and all of your information and apps accept been migrated successfully, it is a good idea to remove these ii folders to repossess that space for other programs to utilise.

To delete these folders you tin can use a Windows tool called Deejay Cleanup.

This isn't at all helpful - the cleanup tool cleans upwardly the windows.onetime folder, where the two mentioned files do not reside. These are the windows 10 install files and they sit directly in C:\.

I talked to windows answer desk today and they said that the $windows. BT and $windows. WS files are arrangement log files and can not be deleted as they are an important role of the windows 10 system.

If you do an upgrade there are some files in windows.old that would presumably be used if you needed to coil dorsum to your former windows install. However the .BT and .WS files are the installation package files which in my case don't fifty-fifty sit down on my windows partition and I've renamed them - they are besides produced by the windows 10 media cosmos tool for a fresh install but cant be deleted which is a pain because they are several Gb in size. I'm hoping you might release a windows update in the future which removes the files or has a removal tool.
